I really try to make the most of the holidays each year. I look for a variety of activities that I can do with my kids at home and my students at school. This year I decided to get organized and select one activity for each day of the month. I put them all into this Free December Activity Calendar for Kids.
You’ll find scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, games, learning activities, and even STEM building challenges. Each day you will also find a free printable to go along with the activity. Planning has never been easier!
I’ve organized each of the activities into themes and given each day of the week a theme. For example, Fridays are all Family Fun activities, like escape rooms and games and Masterpiece Mondays are all special art projects. Free December Activity Calendar for Kids
I separated each of the activities into themes so that each week you have a variety of activities to try over the course of the week. The weekly themes are:
- Scavenger Hunt Sunday

- STEM Saturday
Each day includes an activity that fits the theme.
The calendar is easy to print a copy of, but you will need a digital copy in order to visit each of the sites each day or click below for the activities. There is an activity each day, except for Christmas Day and New Years Eve. These days tend to be exciting and full on their own. The day are listed below in the order they are shown on the calendar.
All of the activities leading up to Christmas Day are Christmas themed activities. As soon as Christmas is over, the activities switch to New Year’s themed.

Learning Activities and Printables
Keep the learning going over the holidays with various worksheets and learning activities. All of the activities are themed for Christmas to engage children. Although these activities support academic learning they’re not intended just for teachers and educators. The printables are fun and engaging and perfect to keep kids learning and engaged over the holidays.
An idea for the resources could be to print and prepare them for children or young family to use as dinner is cooking or adults are visiting. They’re fun resources that kids won’t even feel like they’re learning.

Kids love playing games. The Thursday activities each include a toss and roll, or dice game. You can make your own die from the Roll a Gingerbread Game, or use one from home for these activities. Science and Engineering Challenges
One of my favorite activities to do in my classroom are STEM activities. These activities mix science, technology, engineering and math to make enriching and exciting activities for children. On Saturdays on the free December activity calendar for kids, you’ll find hands-on challenges for kids, from building a reindeer home and a tree toss machine to a candy cane science experiment that kids will love to taste test. Each of the activities include a free printable task card or worksheet.
Scavenger Hunt Sundays
Search and Find Printable Activities
Who doesn’t love a good scavenger hunt. Children tend to be engaged and excited to work on any scavenger hunt. It becomes a game to see who can find all of the items on the list. Your collection on Sundays includes a free printable hunt each day. Follow riddles to lead to a special prize or gift or print a simple scavenger hunt checklist. The scavenger hunts include images to help younger players identify and find each item.
