About Me

Welcome! I’m Kelly, the mom and teacher behind Hands-On Teaching Ideas. With a love of teaching and learning, I started my blog many years ago as a way to share what I was doing in the classroom with other teacher friends and parents. I found a passion in bringing what I was doing in the classroom, and with my own children at home, to my blog to share with others.

Outside of school, I have two little ones who inspire me on a daily basis. I was a stay-at-home mom for many wonderful years, and returned to the classroom recently to continue my love of teaching.  My kids are often the first to try out my activities, and the activities often become our fun together after school.  

I have been teaching for over 18 years in Ontario, Canada.  I am currently a primary teacher, but I have taught grades ranging from junior kindergarten to grade 8 and from homeroom, supply teaching and covering prep (specials).  I consider myself very lucky to work at a wonderful school and do what I love every day.

Most of my activities are lessons that I do in the classroom – so they are tried and tested and kid approved!  I focus on hands-on, inquiry based teaching and learning because I see the benefits of it every day.
