This activity is one of my all time favourites! For this pumpkin game, I found 6 very different pumpkins. I painted two white pumpkins so that I had a polka dotted and rainbow pumpkin.
We went on a pumpkin hunt around the school! Each student was given a laminated sheet, a dry eraser marker and a clipboard. The sheet included a picture of each of the 6 pumpkins they were searching for. A link to the (free) printable of the pumpkins is at the bottom of this page. We then walked around searching for our pumpkins.
I had placed them around the school in places that students could easily access. I encouraged them to touch and feel the pumpkin and then find the picture of the pumpkin on their sheet. They then crossed it off until all of our pumpkins had been found!
It was a great day outside and exciting to find these unique pumpkins.
In future years, if I do not have actual pumpkins, I always have the option of printing off the pictures and placing them around the school/classroom/home for children to find.
