I always love summer break. Time with family and more relaxing days. However, by the end of the summer I do like getting back into routines and heading back to school. I’m always looking for activities for the first week of school that my students will enjoy. This year I’ve added a free back to school printable flip book.
Ideally children don’t feel overwhelmed during the first few days back to school. Doing review and fun hands-on activities are ideal as children get settled. This activity book is great because children already know all of the answers because it’s all about them!
The book is also a great way for educators to get to know the kids and a little bit about themselves. The pages will reveal a few fun facts about each child and even some of their goals for the upcoming year. When completed it’s a great keepsake to send home for parents.
If you’re homeschooling, the resource is a great way to track your child’s progress and give them the opportunity to share some of their thoughts and ideas.

Setting Up Your Flipbook
Instructions on how to create your flip book are all included in the free file. Please note that the example in the file is for a fall flip book. The content is different, but the way the book is put together is still the same. You only require staples and scissors to put the books together.
The book is included in black and white and color. The color pages are great because they are appealing for young children and make the book feel more professional. However, I love using the black and white copy for my students so that they can color each page when they complete the writing part. This is great for early finishers and make the book feel more personalized. You can print either version that works best for you.
I like having this book ready for each child in my class. It’s a great booklet for them to work through when they are done their other work. Depending on the age that you use the book with, they should be able to do many of the pages independently. Encourage older children to add details to their work and lots of color to their drawings.

First Days of School Printable
The activity book is created for young children. It can be a great resource for first grade children. You can try using the booklet with younger, or older children, but it’s best if you look through the pages below and see if you feel they would be a good fit for your students. Younger children may just need extra help reading the instructions. However, they can simply draw instead of always printing their answers. Use the booklet in the way that’s best for you.
The first page of the booklet encourages children to think about how they feel on the first few days. Are they happy or scared? Children draw an expression on the circle showing their face/emotions.
The second page is an All About Me page where kids tell a few facts about themselves, such as their name, teacher’s name and even a self portrait.
On the third page, kids draw two of their favorite things that they do in school. It can be anything. This is a great way for educators to
