Everyone loves a good puzzle! Escape rooms have become very popular over the years, but they can be expensive to visit and they’re not typically the right fit for younger children. Inspired by my own children’s interest in escape rooms, I have compiled this collection of the Top 5 Free Printable Escape Rooms for Kids.
This collection includes five popular printable games from Hands-On Teaching Ideas. All of the games are free and no additional materials are needed to play (except a pair of scissors to prepare some of the clues). Look through each of the games and find ones that are a great fit for your children, or players. There are five in the collection ranging from ones created specifically for young children, preschool and kindergarten aged to older more complex escape rooms and puzzles.

Escape Room for Young Kids
Kindergarten Escape Room Idea
I currently teach kindergarten and wanted to give my students an escape room experience. However, I often find that the puzzles in escape rooms are far too complicated for young children. Therefore I created this escape room for young children.
The puzzles are simplified and based on material and expectations covered in these early years. For example, most of the numbers found in the puzzles are under twenty and the instructions are clear and simple.
The game can be played on a tabletop at home or in the classroom for individuals or small groups to complete.

DIY Escape Room – Mystery Manor
Escape from Mystery Manor is slightly more complicated and created for older children (10+) or children with some extra escape room experience.
The escape room includes a slightly more mature theme and the puzzles are more complicated. If you have done the other escape room puzzles with a group and they are able to complete them successfully and in good time, this is a great game to advance to.
This escape room, like many featured on this list follow a slightly different format than regular escape rooms in that the puzzles take you on an adventure each time a clue is solve. Often the solution to the clue takes you to a specific location within the house. In that location, players will find their next clue.

For all of these escape rooms, they each have a theme, but you can do any of them any time of year and you can do them virtually anywhere.
