The end of the school year is always an exciting time for everyone – teachers and students. I find that as soon as the weather starts to get warm in the spring, students start getting excited about those last days of school. It’s important to keep kids engaged and learning, even in lost last days. Create a special book filled with memories with this Free End of School Activity Book.
The flipbook is easy to set up and create and it’s free to print for all subscribers. It’s a great activity for students in the classroom to work on when they have completed other work or you can even do it at home with your child to complete the year.
The book is created for young children, kindergarten and maybe grade 1. It won’t take a long time for students to work their way through the pages, but it’s a great review of the year. There is a color and black and white copy of all of the pages included in the printable.
If you are using the resource in your classroom, I suggest printing the black and white copies. This is better to conserve ink, but it’s also a great way to keep children busy by encouraging them to color each page before they’re officially done the book.

As you collect resources to fill your last few days, grab a copy of the popular, Free End of the Year Scavenger Hunt. This activity takes children on an adventure around the school as they reminisce about the year that has passed.
Free End of School Activity Book Set Up
The book is fairly easy to set up. You’ll need scissors and a stapler or glue. Within the file there are step by step instructions for how to put the book together. (Please note that the instructions are for a Fall Flipbook, but both are set up in the same way.)

Print as many copies as you need and cut on the dotted line of each page. Each page is a different length, which when put together creates the flipbook style book. You can either staple or glue the pages together at the top. Children can then put their name on the front and they’re ready to start filling out.
The booklet can be completed in any order and covers various subject areas, such as math and language. One of my favorite things about the activity book is that it is a great keepsake for parents to hang onto when the school year ends.

Completing Your Activity Book
Each page of the book encourages children to think about something different. The first page, “Special Things” requires kids to think about a special goal they have for next year, a favorite book and a favorite activity. They can print or draw a picture for each of their answers.
Depending on the age and skill level of the children completing the book, you can encourage children to fill out each page in more detail with full answers, in sentences, or for young children, a picture may be enough.
Booklet Pages
The “End of School Writing” page encourages children to think about a favorite memory from the year. Why does it stand out? I love reading children’s answers and what was special to them.

The “End of School Math” includes a few questions where children need to count, add and use their math skills to complete the page.
The final pages are a crossword and wordsearch puzzle. The words needed for the crossword are included on the page to help young children with spelling. New readers can work to decode the words by sounding them out and finding the correct spot to put them.

Kids love wordsearches, but young children often find them very challenging. Since children are just beginning to read and track letters left to right, finding letters backwards and diagonal is very hard. This wordsearch only has words hidden left to right and down. This makes it a bit easier, while still being fun.
The final pages of the file include all of the answers for each of the pages. This can help if someone newly learning English is doing the flipbook know if their answers are correct.
Another option for this booklet is to use it at home when children first come home for the summer. It can be a fun activity to do together at home.
I hope that your end of the year is filled with fun, learning and lots of happy memories!
