Escape Room Puzzle #1

The first puzzle introduces the game. This puzzle can be placed somewhere for players to find as soon as they enter the room or you can give them the letter.

The letter asks player to help find cupid, and it also suggests to “Start by making the biggest hearts the same color!” There are lots of hearts on the page, but only four that are the biggest.

Players have to decide a way to make them all the same color. There aren’t any markers or paint nearby, so eventually players will try folding the page. As it is folded, and the hearts are matched to make them all red, the clue reads, “Check the clock.”

Matching Puzzle #2

To prepare the second puzzle, print and cut along the dotted lines to make strips. Place all of the strips, along with the instruction together with a paper clip and place it by a clock. Which clock you place it with is up to you. It can be a clock in the room players started in, or it can be in another room of your home/location.

Not placing this clue in the most obvious spot can help to make the game more challenging. By choosing a different clock somewhere else in the house opens up a whole other element to the game. Players have to search even harder to find this next puzzle. This is a great option if you have a bigger group because all players can go in different directions while still working together.

Once players find the puzzle, they read the instructions on the page. It tells players that, “One picture appears on every strip of paper. Can you find it to lead you to your next clue?” Players then have to spot which image is on every strip. Once they notice the cupcakes, they will match it to the word cupcake on the instructions.

To help younger players you can pre fold the lines on the shape to help children know what to do with it when they find it and fold it properly.
