Since I create a lot of story plays, I have a lot of the materials at my house. Therefore my kids have access to these materials. So when I see my kids independently creating story plays my heart melts. I love using natural objects for kids play with, especially for story plays. Over time I have collected various sheets of fabric that children always enjoy playing with and creating their setting. After reading a story, my daughter collected various items from around the house and created her own story play, loosely based on the book.
She played for hours retelling her favourite parts and adding many new elements. In kindergarten, giving a bin, or basket, full of materials and basic characters allows students to create a story from their imagination.
