I try to avoid activities/art that results in a lot of cookie cutter creations. However, I think that there is a place for activities that challenge kids to follow step-by-step instructions especially when it fits with their current inquiry. One of the classes have been learning about frogs, so we created a small frog craft that required students to follow a few steps.
Using green paper plates, I had the students use the example to create their own frog. I am always amazed how art like this can turn out. That’s what I love about it though! Every frog was different! Some frogs had 3 eyes, others only 1 because they were winking, and the number of spots ranged from 0 to about 50, and they were all perfect!
