I am very excited about the upcoming school year. Over the summer I added some new materials to use when I teach. This week I brought some of these teacher supplies into the classroom and introduced them to the students. I like to keep things organized and easy to move from one class to another so I am thrilled with these storage solutions. Another supply I will be using that is new to me this year are mini erasers. I have been seeing them all over the place along with teaching ideas to do with them; so I am excited to try them out. My own kids loved playing with them over the summer so I knew they would be a hit in the kindergarten classes. At school, I first introduced them to students by just letting them play/explore with the different erasers. The kids loved them! The erasers are bright, colourful and perfect for little fingers to use.
The containers are also perfect for storing the erasers. They hold kids accountable to keep their container of erasers together and put them away properly. My intention is to use the erasers as an exciting manipulative for math. Without any direction today, many children were counting their erasers, sorting and even making patterns with them. This may be my new favourite hands-on tool.
