Block by block! During a kindergarten class inquiry on structures and building, I did this activity with students. I gave each student a hand full of building blocks and a bit of time to simply play to start. A building activity for kids is a great way to get kids experimenting and exploring a part of engineering.
We sat together in a large circle and I gave students a basic description of something to build (Block Structure Cards link at bottom for free printable.) They then created with the blocks that they had. After we had done some of the cards, they had time to build anything they wanted either on their own or with a partner, or two! This was a super simple activity, but a great STEM challenge.
